The Story Behind Our Name
Honouring the land we call home
Bollerang House draws its name from the pristine Bollerang Creek that flows near our venue in Wandandian, connecting us to the rich Indigenous heritage of this beautiful region.
The creek’s name originates from “Boorooboroo,” the Aboriginal word used by the local Indigenous people in the early 1800s to describe this waterway and the surrounding landscape.
When Surveyor General Robert Dixon conducted the first official surveys of the area, he respectfully adapted this Indigenous name into “Bollerang Creek,” preserving the cultural significance of the land in the official record.
Today, Bollerang House continues this tradition of honouring the deep connection between place and people, celebrating the enduring Aboriginal heritage whilst creating new memories in this naturally stunning location.
